ZIPPER ACTION

Zipper action usually is when the ball is in the wing position and a player on the ball side block receives a down screen from a post player. The player being screen cuts to the the top of the key area.

Zipper action can be very potent action that is a feature in almost every NBA team’s playbook. It is an effective action for a low post target as well as action once the ball is passed to the cutter.

There are many variations that can be utilised from this very simple play. Below are some good examples of the how the play is executed.

When the defence looks to deny the pass to the cutter, back door options are a good counter.
