Finger Injuries

Probably the simplest and most effective method of strapping a sprained finger is to use a length of 2.5cm tape. Apply a basket weave over the finger joint. A piece of felt about 20mm thick may be placed between the fingers and then using tape about 1.5cm wide put encircling strips around the injured finger and the next to it above and below the injured joint. Naturally this treatment will restrict the movement of the finger to some degree and may affect the player’s fine touch when shooting or passing the ball, but the player and coach will have to decide if it is preferable to deal with the discomfort or remain out of the game or training until the player has recovered from the injury.
